Iran animation to vie in South Korea

‘Run, Rostam, Run’ is scheduled to compete at the Seoul Int'l Cartoon and Animation Festival in South Korea.

Written and directed by Hossein Molayemi, the animation will be screened at the competition section of the event.

The 11-minute animation is a free, comic adaptation of the tragic story of Rostam and Sohrab.

Rostam, the national epic hero, must travel in time and come to modern Tehran in order to make up for what he has done to his son, Sohrab.

While in Tehran, he cannot decide whether to accomplish his goal through a legal way or an illegal one.

The animated film was first screened at the Tehran International Animation Festival where it won the best animation and the best director awards.

Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival (SICAF) is an international event that specializes in animation representing Asia.

Since it started as a small animation screening event in 1995, it became the official member of the Association of Animated Film Festival (ASIFA) in 2005, and has grown into a reputable international animation festival over the past 20 years.

The festival is slated for August 23-26, 2018.
